Different cultures have different views towards death. Some may try their very best to avoid mentioning the D word. However making a will is still the best way to arrange your estate (tangible and intangible assets) after your leaving this lovely world.
How to make a will? It is quite simple and straightforward.
You need a piece of paper to write down your wish. You need to appoint somebody to be your executor who can be anybody over 18 years of age. Of course he or she has to be mentally capable. In addition to that, when you sign your will, two witnesses must be present to certify that you execute it of your free will. Then you write down all the assets you possess and start drafting your will.
It is as simple as that.
The will can start like this:
THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me ___________________ of ___________ married to ____________________
1. I REVOKE all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me.
2. I APPOINT ____________ of ________________ (in this Will referred to as ‘my Trustee’) to be executors and trustees of this will.
After that it is the body of your will and finally the will ends like this:
IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand this day of Two thousand and Twelve
Then how to deal with it? It is another story. But at least you have a will now.
